Hose Testing
Good afternoon,
On behalf of the hose committee (Magda, Kylie, Leo, and I), we want to thank all who helped us out with the hose testing on Tuesday! This includes the crews on Red Shift! We can't thank you enough for everyone's help!
I did want to take a moment to address some miscommunications and concerns brought up by department members. With the use of FireCatt for the past few years our process of hose testing has changed slightly. Please note FireCatt is only responsible for conducting the actual hose testing and helping pull and set up of all hose. We as a department are responsible for reloading the hose appropriately. Every year we try to have individuals to sign up and assist with hose testing but understand that not everyone maybe available to do so on their time off. With that being said, we may need to utilize duty crews to assist with reloading hose. This is to insure that FireCatt can efficiently perform their task and to limit the amount of time a rig is out of service. This came into play on Tuesday when we requested the help of duty crews to assist with the reloading of hose. We again cannot reiterate how appreciative we are of all who assisted on Tuesday! This allowed FireCatt to finish a day early and to make sure that our apparatuses were put back into service as soon as possible.
If any further questions or concerns arise about how hose testing is handled or how we conducted this year's hose testing, please reach out to myself or Chief Cokefair. We want to make an effort to make sure all are informed correctly on this matter.
Thank you,
Max
