Aurora Hospital construction

Good afternoon, all,

The Aurora Kenosha Emergency Department will begin the final phase (phase 4) of our flooring project starting Monday, December 15th at 0600hrs. This phase will have an impact on EMS agencies entering the Emergency Department from the ambulance bay.

The ambulance bay doors to enter will still function normally, however, the third set of doors to access the unit will be closed and impacted during this phase. As a mitigating workaround for your crews, we are placing three badge reader cards inside the EMS room for use. Note: these badges will work on the badge reader for the specific unit door to enter. Please ensure crews return the badge reader card after use. These cards will not be marked with Aurora branding but will indicate via label that they are EMS badges. The code for the EMS room is 9998#. Please share with your crews.

Clear signage will be placed for the alternate route for crews to follow. For awareness, crews will turn right at the 3rd door (unit door) and exit through the double doors. They will then turn left and walk along the outside of the unit and turn left at the end of the hallway. At that final left-hand turn, crews can use the badge reader and enter the unit doors on their left. Crews will have entered the unit from the opposite side and will see the nurse’s station upon entering. The tracking board outside of the unit from the ambulance bay will remain functional.

We expect all ED construction to be complete on Tuesday, December 23rd and normal operations will resume. I will follow up with an email to update this group as we finish for loop closure.

We appreciate your understanding and patience while we update the care environment for our patients and staff.

Please reach out with questions and concerns.

Thank you,
