Firefighters and Police Officers Recognized

We would like to recognize the crew that responded to 1039 Osmond on the 16th of December 2017 for a child birth call for a Life Saving and Unit Commendation. As crews arrived they found themselves faced with a breached birth. All members of the Engine and Ambulance worked together as they fought to save the baby and mother. Crews were on scene for very minimal time as they packaged both patients for transport. Three members in the back of the ambulance, two working compressions all the way to the hospital trading off every few minutes while one tended the mother as well as called out specific orders throughout the transport. Because of the continuity and selflessness of the entire crew, to just react and let their training take over as they were instrumental in saving a life. The entire crew worked for 20 minutes non-stop setting the hospital staff up for success to further the chances for survival. Baby Miles was taken to Lutheran General where he fought for over 9 weeks. Baby Miles was able to make a full recovery and return home healthy because the crew that responded was able to give Miles a fighting chance. Please take the time to recognize the three crew members, FF/ Paramedic Mike Kueber, FF/ EMT, Nick Godin & Mike Kerlin for a Life Saving Award and BC Joe DuShane, FF/EMT Shane Parker, FF Jeff VanPatten for Unit Commendations for their support. We would also like to thank the 3 Antioch Police officers that responded to assist.
